Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said 225.000 foreigners applied for treatment in Türkiye within two months.
“Today, almost everyone agrees that there is no country in the world that can hold a candle to Turkey in terms of health infrastructure.” President Erdoğan said, “In fact, we have reached such a level that our patients no longer go abroad, people from Europe, America and dozens of different countries of the world now seek their healing in Turkey and seek it in Turkish hospitals. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people, including our own citizens, entrust their health to you, to Turkish physicians, who are our source of pride. We see that Turkey’s share in health tourism is gradually increasing and we are pleased on behalf of our country. We closed last year with 1.2 million applications in health tourism. In the first two months of this year, the number of applications exceeded 225 thousand. With the addition of new ones to our city hospitals, I hope we will come to much better places in health tourism.”
In 2023, a total of 1,398,504 people came to Turkey to receive healthcare services and the revenue generated from these visits amounted to USD 2,3 billion.
