A Foreign Influence Law is Needed to Strengthen the Domestic Front

Prof. Dr. Erol emphasizes the importance of protecting Turkey’s domestic front against external threats through a Foreign Influence Agent Law.

Summary: In the second part of the interview with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, President of ANKASAM, the focus is on Turkey’s domestic front. The internal dynamics of Turkey are crucial for resilience against external threats, with the strength of the military and unity of the nation being key factors. The West aims to create internal weaknesses in Turkey through various means, including propaganda and attempts at color revolutions. Prof. Dr. Erol emphasizes the importance of enacting a “Foreign Influence Agent Law” to safeguard national security and protect Turkey’s independence. It is crucial for Turkey to take preventive steps to secure the domestic front against external intervention.

In the first part of our interview with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, President of ANKASAM (Ankara Crisis and Policy Research Center), we delved into several critical topics, including the West’s attempts at “color revolutions” in the South Caucasus, its use of NGOs for political purposes, and the importance of Turkish-Russian relations in the region.

THE DOMESTIC FRONT IS CRUCIAL

In this second part, our focus shifts to Turkey’s domestic front. While Turkey faces external threats, its resilience will ultimately depend on its internal dynamics. International partnerships are essential, of course, but the internal front will always be the decisive factor.

A strong military and a united nation cannot be easily defeated. The imperialist West understands this well and is not only trying to strain Turkey’s relations with other states but is also primarily aiming to create internal weaknesses.

This can be done in various ways. For example, Turkey recently overcame the FETÖ crisis, in which this terrorist organization, acting as an internal agent, even attempted an armed coup.

But the battle is not always fought with weapons. The nation’s mind can be manipulated through enemy propaganda, paving the way for color revolutions.

“IF YOU CAN’T DESTROY TURKEY FROM OUTSIDE…”

Prof. Dr. Erol emphasizes that the occurrence of color revolutions in countries that were part of the former Ottoman and Soviet territories is no coincidence. The West intends to establish puppet governments in the regions surrounding Turkey and Russia:

“In the process of constructing a new international system, particularly in the pursuit of unipolarity centered around American hegemony, the Eurasian geography, and within that, the geopolitics of Turkey and Russia, are targets. It is not easy to destroy large countries like Turkey and Russia from the outside. Therefore, these countries can only be brought to their knees by weakening them internally, creating instability, and making them vulnerable to external intervention.”

TURKEY WILL NOT SIT IDLY BY

Naturally, Turkey will not remain passive during this process. It must take the necessary precautions. One such measure is a “Foreign Influence Agent Law,” which is already in force in many countries. When Georgia recently passed this law, the US and EU were outraged, as it undermined their ability to meddle in the domestic affairs of our neighbor in the South Caucasus.

THE WEST’S DOUBLE STANDARD

Prof. Erol highlights a striking point:

“This law was initially inspired by Western countries, especially the US. The first foreign influence agent law, known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), was enacted in the US in 1938 to counter Nazi propaganda.”

According to ANKASAM’s president, many countries, particularly Western states, have implemented legal frameworks to safeguard against foreign government influence. In a time of rising uncertainty, threats, and existential risks, Turkey must also take preventive steps on matters concerning national security.

PROTECTING TURKEY’S INDEPENDENCE

After pointing out the West’s hypocrisy, Prof. Erol insists that Turkey must enact this law:

“Recent developments compel Turkey to take more rational steps urgently. To protect democracy and the nation’s independence, these precautions must be taken. The domestic front can only be secured in this way. Our recent history and regional developments tell us this.”

THE LAW MUST BE INTRODUCED SWIFTLY

Regardless of how strong your international partnerships or strategic alliances are, internal weaknesses can leave you vulnerable in critical moments. For this reason, Prof. Dr. Erol’s call is of paramount importance.

The “Foreign Influence Agent Law” must be enacted urgently!
