A historical day: Bashar Assad overthrown by Syrian people

Syrian public revolution eventually ends with success after 13 years. Rebel groups entered Damascus this night. All state institutions from airport to state TVs are under opposition control.

Syrian general chief of staff ordered soldiers to surrender. Where Bashar Assad went is not known. It is likely that he might still be in Syria.

The fall of Damascus is currently celebrated by all Syrians whether in Syria or in diaspora. So many Syrians are expected to return home.

One of the winners of the revolution is Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Despite condemnations coming from inside and outside Türkiye, he allied with Syrian people and sheltered them for more than a decade. He is now enjoying the taste of his decision.
