While American presidential elections are looming, which candidate Muslims will vote for is a matter of wonder. American Muslims traditionally vote for Democrat candidates as Republicans are more racist, white supremacist and mostly adhere Evangelist faith, a protestan sect which supports Israel unconditionally in accordance with their faith.
However, Israel’s genocide in Gaza seems to have changed Muslims’ choices. Despite that the Muslim community called for halting American support to Israel, the incumbent Democrat administration remained deaf and became complicit in Israel’s crime. Majority of Gazan civilians are killed by American-supplied weapons. What is more, arms shipment to Israel continues.
Muslims were quite angry when Trump decided to move US embassy to Al-Quds. Besides, they were disturbed by Trump’s support to Israel. However, since the Biden administration was complicit in the death of 40.ooo Palestinians, analysts say that Muslims will have to chose between the worse (Republicans) and the worst (Democrats).
Analysts add that Trump is not the ideal candidate for Muslims but his being without a secret agenda makes his behaviors predictable. Moreover, Democrat Party’s globalist anti-Muslim foreign policy is worse than Trump’s “America First” policy. As per analysts, an America less involved in domestic affairs of other countries is better than an imperial foreign policy. By this way, they claim, America’s involvement in Muslim-related issues will decrease, they say.
Besides sliding to Trump, some voters from Muslim community may prefer not to vote for either candidate, too. There are 4.5 million Muslims in the US as of 2024.
