Garo Paylan, a former HDP MP for three terms, appeared as a guest on a YouTube program called “Civil.net,” which broadcasts in Armenian.
Known for his statements against Turkey, Paylan said, “Armenia will need 3 to 5 years to be able to attack Azerbaijan again.”

Paylan, who mentioned that they would strengthen with the support of the US and France, said, “We have emotions, we have history. We are biased, but we also need to think strategically. Right now, the world is in disorder. Our sovereignty was intact when we had so-called Azerbaijani lands. We also had land beyond Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). But Azerbaijan was criticizing us for this. Now, they don’t have those areas anymore. Now Azerbaijan is making demands regarding lands that still belong to us. This is an existential threat, and we must face it. We can shout once, but right now we’re not strong enough to respond. We need at least 3 to 5 years to respond to Azerbaijan. During this time, we should also extend our hand to them. Our policy should be this. To secure peace, we must have strong supporters like France and the US. I think Mr. Trump, if he sets his own policy in this regard, it will make it easier for us to achieve our goals. We will gain time, and then we can strengthen our economy and army. And this can happen within 3 to 5 years. I think Aliyev doesn’t want to sign an agreement with us because of this.”
With these statements, former MP Paylan revealed that they still have their eyes on Azerbaijani land, and by appearing to support peace, they are also preparing for war, exposing their hypocrisy.
Additionally, Garo Paylan, due to having served three terms as an MP, is now in retirement status and continues to receive a salary from the Republic of Turkey.
