Bodo Glimt donates 735,000 kroners to Gaza, earned from Maccabi Tel Aviv match

It appears in a thank-you letter from Glimt’s general manager, Frode Thomassen, and chairman, Inge Henning Andersen.

In total, the club is donating 735,000 kroner. The funds are earmarked for relief efforts in Gaza.

– We have said it before, and we will say it again: Glimt cannot, and will not, remain unaffected by the suffering and violations of international law taking place in other parts of the world, the letter states. It has been published on the website of the reigning league champions.

The letter also expresses gratitude to the supporters and the Bodø police for ensuring that the much-discussed match against Maccabi Tel Aviv proceeded peacefully.

– Now that we have had a chance to catch our breath, we can look back not only on a well-deserved home victory but also on a match day that was conducted without any serious incidents. That was by no means a given, the Glimt leaders point out.

Recently, the war in Gaza was put on hold when Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire.
