Speaking in the earthquake-hit Adıyaman, President Erdoğan said: “Just as we have implemented in our country countless services and projects previously believed to be impossible, I also promise my nation in front of you that we will substantially heal the wounds of the earthquake within a year.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chairman Devlet Bahçeli of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) inspected the ongoing relief efforts in Adıyaman.
Making a speech following the inspections, President Erdoğan offered his wishes for a speedy recovery to the earthquake victims, and said: “We had come to Adıyaman a few days after the quake on Friday, February 10, to share the pain of our quake-victim citizens staying in the tent city. Adıyaman has changed a lot since then for sure. Adıyaman is one of the provinces most affected by the devastation caused by the strong quakes, which stuck in a row in an unprecedented manner in the world, as well as by the aftershocks.”
Drawing attention to the challenges experienced due to the devastating impacts of the tremors, harsh weather conditions and the damaged infrastructure in the few days right after the earthquake, President Erdoğan assured that whatever is necessary will be done as has been the case thus far. “After having overcome the challenges faced in the initial days, we have accelerated the efforts to rescue our brothers and sisters in Adıyaman from under the rubbles and to extend relief,” the President added.
“WE HAVE BEEN TIRELESSLY SERVING OUR COUNTRY IN EVERY AREA”
“Just as we have resolved countless problems considered to be insurmountable and have implemented in our country countless services and projects previously believed to be impossible, I also promise my nation in front of you that we will substantially heal the wounds of the earthquake within a year. Just like every mortal being, we also may have mistakes, shortcomings and flaws of course. However, no one can deny that we have been tirelessly serving our country in every area and working for our nation’s peace, prosperity and security. That being said, no one can bring back the lives lost in the February 6 earthquakes, which are described as the disaster of the century. Other than that, however, we have the determination, experience, capabilities and the power to compensate for everything else.”
