Erdoğan: Do not miscalculate our calm stance in the face of provocations to be a weakness in Syria

Holding a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye is making its weight felt more and more as a main pole in a multipolar world. This time, Türkiye will definitely take its rightful place in the global system that is being restructured.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“Türki̇ye will continue to prioritize peace and diplomacy”

President Erdoğan said: “The 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held on April 11-13, offered yet another opportunity for us to see the power of the Turkish foreign policy. The forum, themed ‘Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World’, was attended by over 6 thousand participants from 155 countries, including 21 heads of state and government. In 50 sessions throughout the forum, experts addressed a wide range of issues from the transformative power of education to clime crisis, from the rising wave of protectionism to multipolarity. At a time when tensions are escalating and new crises are constantly emerging, we, as Türkiye, will continue to prioritize justice, peace, and diplomacy.”

President Erdoğan stated: “One day before the forum, on April 10, we hosted President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia and his delegation in our country. We were pleased to hear the messages my friend Subianto delivered from our parliament on the history and the relations between our countries. We are delighted by the momentum achieved in a broad spectrum in our relations with Indonesia, with which we enjoy brotherly ties spanning over four centuries. We are determined to increase our trade volume to $10 billion. We will inshallah achieve this target through new partnerships we will cultivate in areas such as defense industry, construction, healthcare, and energy.”

“Every development in the middle east directly concerns Türki̇ye”

“I would like to take this opportunity to underline the fact that every development, every crisis, and every problem in the Middle East directly concerns us, our country, our nation, our economy, and our security. We must analyze incidents with an enterprising, proactive and courageous approach and update our policies accordingly,” President Erdoğan stressed.

President Erdoğan went on: “Türkiye is making its weight felt more and more as a main pole in a multipolar world. This time, Türkiye will definitely take its rightful place in the global system that is being restructured. I would like my nation and the whole world to know that Türkiye favors peace under all circumstances. Türkiye is a country every neighbor, every friend, and every brother of which feels secure about. This is the kind of country Türkiye is. However, at the same time, Türkiye is not a country to push its limits, to test its friendship or animosity. We, if need be, sacrifice our lives for our independence and future but never bow to the oppressor.”

“As Syria regains peace and stability, the winner will be the entire region”

President Erdoğan said: “No one should make any miscalculations or consider our calm stance in the face of provocations to be a weakness. Particularly on the Syrian issue, some actors, instead of testing the limits of Türkiye’s patience, should appreciate its friendship, adjust their rhetoric and policies accordingly, and act like a state not like an organization. Whoever tries to prevent Syria from achieving lasting peace and stability, I say this clearly, they will find themselves facing us along with the Syrian Government. Just as we did not allow Syria to be divided through a terror corridor, we will not allow this country to be divided through other corridors either.”

“The possibility of returning to the period before 8 December in Syria has been eliminated,” President Erdoğan underlined. “With the 8 December revolution, a new era has now begun in the country. As Syria recovers and regains peace and stability, the winner will be the entire region, all the peoples in the region. Türkiye will do its utmost to ensure that the new process becomes successful. In Gaza as well, we will continue to provide our brothers and sisters with every kind of support to make sure that they live in their own homeland freely, peacefully and safely.”
