Fractured Narratives: How Digital Media Exposes Bias in U.S. and Israel’s Global Influence Strategy

Media and digital platforms are leveraged by the U.S. and Israel to shape global views, yet recent events are prompting a worldwide reassessment of these narratives.

The U.S. and Israel have historically shaped global narratives through media and digital platforms, aligning content with their strategic interests, particularly in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Platforms like Instagram, influenced by algorithmic controls, reportedly amplify pro-Israel messaging while limiting pro-Palestinian content, as observed in a Stanford study. However, digital media’s expansion is increasingly allowing global audiences to see diverse perspectives, questioning the validity of these narratives. Recent incidents, such as Israel’s attacks on October 7, have intensified global criticism, challenging America’s long-held reputation for defending freedom and exposing inherent media biases.

Today, the U.S., Zionists, and the Israeli state have dismantled the empire of perception that they had built for over a century through global media, using their own digital platforms and the internet.

The Middle East has historically been the center of complex political, social, economic, and religious conflicts. However, especially in the last century, U.S. interventions and Israel’s acts of genocide in Palestine have brought this region to the forefront of international attention. Israel’s terror actions in Palestine have led to one of the world’s most serious humanitarian crises, which deepened even further with the genocide that erupted on October 7, 2023. These terror attacks launched by Israel have not been limited to Palestine but have extended to Lebanon and Syria as well. These assaults, leading to widespread human rights violations, are labeled as “genocide” globally, except by the U.S. and a few allied states. As a result of Israel’s actions, over 42,000 Muslims have been killed, with hundreds of thousands more injured or displaced. However, this genocide has not only caused physical destruction but has also dealt a significant blow to the global perception shaped through media. The myth of America and its lies to the world have thus been publicly exposed and destroyed.

Through media manipulations, the Israeli and U.S. states attempt to create a different perception among global audiences to legitimize their actions and acts of genocide in Palestine and the Middle East. Justifying the oppression and attacks on the Palestinian people has become the primary goal of these two countries’ media strategies. Yet, the rapid access to information brought by the digital age has significantly weakened the impact of these manipulative efforts. The vast interactive possibilities of the internet facilitate the global exposure of truths on a larger scale. Global audiences have begun to see more clearly Israel’s systematic human rights violations in Palestine and the U.S.’s support for these policies; the “freedom and rights” myth that the U.S. has maintained for decades is beginning to crumble. The empire of perception that the U.S. has built through the media is being dismantled today through the internet. Despite all perception management and algorithms, people worldwide fill the streets in opposition to the genocide in Palestine.

It is a well-known fact that Hollywood has long been used as a propaganda tool to support U.S. global strategies. Hollywood has produced 182 feature films and 116 documentaries about Jewish history and victimhood, many of which have won Oscars. These productions play a significant role in legitimizing Israel’s policies and presenting the suffering of the Jewish people to global audiences. However, today, Hollywood’s role has largely been transferred to digital platforms. Today, Netflix continues Hollywood’s unfinished mission as a global internet television provider, creating series, documentaries, and films to manipulate the Israeli genocide and sway global opinion in favor of Israel.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, and similar digital platforms, with their global reach, allow pro-Israel content to spread to much broader audiences. For instance, Netflix’s *Fauda* series dramatizes Israel’s military operations while portraying Palestinian resistance fighters as terrorists and presenting Israeli attacks as legitimate acts of defense. Similarly, productions like *The Covenant: The Story of Moses* emphasize the historical victimhood of the Jewish people, legitimizing Israel’s modern policies while sidelining the oppression faced by Palestinians. These kinds of productions clearly illustrate how pro-Israel narratives are spread globally through Western media. The global public has become acutely aware of the attempts by these platforms to manipulate and legitimize the genocide carried out by Israel. It is increasingly understood that these platforms, in truth, act as enemies of humanity.

The “freedom and rights” narrative, as well as the narratives of human rights and international law that the U.S. has built and sustained for decades through media and digital platforms, are increasingly being questioned. Throughout the 20th century, the U.S. and the Zionist regime, which held the power to shape global opinion through the media and the Hollywood industry, now appear to be failing in this perception management, with the genocide faced by the Palestinian people coming to global awareness. Growing public opposition worldwide undermines the legitimacy of U.S. and Israeli efforts to portray themselves as righteous, significantly reducing the credibility of these narratives.

During this process of digital censorship policies, nearly all digital platforms, based in the U.S. or Zionist-owned, have facilitated both the spread of manipulative content and the circulation of alternative narratives. For example, Instagram limited the spread of pro-Palestinian content and applied censorship following the October 7 attacks, trying to present Israel’s actions to the world from a different perspective. After the martyrdom of a Hamas leader, Instagram’s imposition of restrictions and censorship on posts in Turkey once again demonstrated how effectively the Zionist regime uses digital platforms to conceal the truth. However, these censorship efforts are now being viewed much more critically by global audiences. What the U.S. and Zionist Israel fail to understand is that these kinds of censorship and manipulations are revealing their true nature. Global audiences, critically evaluating these manipulative strategies, have unmasked America and Israel. And the American myth has collapsed!

Algorithms and Information Wars

Communication devices and tools have historically been used to broadcast the voice and views of their owners most powerfully. These tools not only disseminate the thoughts of their owners but also serve to suppress and distort alternative perspectives. Designed and directed to maximize their influence over audiences, they work to reinforce the dominance of their owners by preventing alternative voices from being heard. Today, most digital platforms are U.S.-owned, with Israel as a close partner. One of the strongest tools of digital platforms is the guiding and manipulative power of algorithms in content distribution. Algorithms determine which content users are more likely to encounter, amplifying certain messages while overshadowing others. Research conducted by Stanford University reveals that during the Israel-Palestine conflict, Instagram reduced the visibility of pro-Palestinian content by 60%, while prioritizing pro-Israel content. This is a clear example of how specific political and social narratives can be strengthened through the manipulative use of algorithms. Algorithms selectively determine the information that social media users can access and which perspectives will be more visible, increasing the manipulation capacity of digital platforms. In this context, major U.S.-based tech companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Facebook have the potential to control the dissemination of content that serves the strategic global interests of the United States. Given the strong support the U.S. provides to Israel, it is not surprising that these digital platforms also follow policies that increase the visibility of pro-Israel content. This situation today enables internet users to more consciously recognize the content management and manipulation strategies on digital platforms.
