Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov told how Kazakhstan plans to diversify oil, Tengrinews.kz reports . The head of government said that a special roadmap had been developed to diversify oil exports.
“In particular, this is the direction through the Aktau port to the port of Baku and from there in the direction of Baku – Tbilisi – Ceyhan – the oil pipeline. Also Baku – Supsa, this is in Georgia, and Baku – Batumi, where there is our terminal in the port. These directions, plus there is a direction by rail from Atyrau towards Batumi and towards Uzbekistan, and there is also a direction from China,” Smailov said.
The prime minister also said that there is an agreement from January 1, 2023 to transport 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline . In addition, a further increase to 6-6.5 million tons is being worked out .
In addition, Smailov noted that Tengizchevroil has doubled the number of tank cars and has already begun pilot shipments by rail towards Batumi and Uzbekistan.
“That is, we are carrying out relevant work in all areas both jointly with our subsoil users and jointly with our colleagues in neighboring countries. By the way, they have full understanding and support in this matter, they are ready to provide their transit opportunities and are ready to cooperate with Kazakhstan on these issues,” the Prime Minister said.
