Minister Bayraktar this statement while making inspections at the Tuz Gölü Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility.

Reminding that Türkiye has been supplying natural gas from Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran through natural gas pipelines for many years, Bayraktar said that they started to shape the infrastructure to purchase natural gas in liquefied form within the scope of the “National Energy and Mining Policy” after 2016. He added that Türkiye was able to purchase approximately 30 million cubic metres of liquefied LNG per day in line with these targets, and continued his statement as follows:
“As of today, we have become capable of receiving 160 million cubic metres of natural gas in liquid form. In a sense, this means that we have the infrastructure to supply the gas that households in Türkiye need in the coldest time of the winter in liquid form by ships. We have realised our infrastructures that can receive both pipelines and LNG.”

Emphasizing that the Salt Lake Underground Natural Gas Storage Project is very important, Bayraktar said, “Here, we aim to increase Turkey’s natural gas storage capacity in the second phase and the third phase and to make our supply security in natural gas stronger. Another important move in natural gas is our new pipelines and storage facilities.”
