There is no single day that a former French colony shows its discomfort with France. This time Senegal’s prime minister harshly criticized France’s presence in Africa.
When receiving and hosting a joint conference with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Sonko, also the president of PASTEF found a good opportunity to denounce France’s neocolonial policy. Ousmane SONKO also took the opportunity to show his support for the member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States.
“We will not let go of our brothers in the Sahel and we will do everything necessary to strengthen ties and provide them with our solidarity,” he declared.
For the Prime Minister of Senegal, it is incomprehensible that African countries sanction another African to satisfy France. According to him, there is a policy of double standards and the putschists who are in the dock are those who truly seek sovereignty for their people.
“Those who today condemn regimes considered military or dictatorial are nevertheless inclined to move towards other regimes which are not democratic when it comes to negotiating oil or markets. From this moment on, can we say that we get involved in everything with the same principles? Absolutely not. Internal problems within countries must be resolved by the citizens of those countries. Certainly, there have been coups d’état and certainly, no one encourages the commission of a coup d’état, but I refuse to be part of those who denounce the symptoms while refusing to analyze the real causes of these coups of State,” he said.
Note that Ousmane SONKO recently announced a tour which will take him to Mali, Guinea and Niger.
