Turkey’s flag carrier Turkish Arlines has announced that it will establish a new cargo subsidiary as the embattled airline industry prepares for the global delivery challenge of the coronavirus vaccine which is expected to be ready in December.
Turkish Airline’s current cargo branch Turkish Cargo has managed to grow in 2020 as the industry just announced that it would lose 167 billion dollars in 2020 and 2021. Turkish Cargo was ranked the fastest growing air cargo company in the world after managing to post 67 percent growth in the first half of 2020. Turkish Cargo carried one out of every 20 air cargo flights around the world, increasing its global market share from 3.9% to 5.4% and recently added 6 more destinations.
Turkish Arlines Board of Directors announced on Friday that it decided to launch another cargo subsidiary hence turning the global coronavirus crisis into an opportunity.
