The year 2023 was a lucrative period for Turkish defense companies. Turkish defense officials have disclosed that weapons producers received $10.2 billion worth orders from their customers, majority of which being foreign governments. Türkiye’s defense exports reached $5.5 billion last year.
The cumulative backlog of Turkish companies is estimated to be over $20 billion. While the biggest portion of exports consisted of armed drones, Turkish companies sold missiles, helicopters, light attack aircrafts, spare parts, armoured vehicles and various munitions. Export amount is expected to be around $7billion this year.
