A Turkish man invited 35 Syrian orphans to lunch in a restaurant in Yuregir district of Adana amid growing anti-migrant sentiments in Türkiye. As the man was about to pay the bill, the owner of the restaurant refused to take any money and insisted the children would eat for free.
The gesture became viral by Turkish social media accounts who are concerned by misperception of Turks after recent events. A social media user wrote “These are real Turks whose heart beat for Muslim victims. We will always be with you”.
Meanwhile, Turkish officials visited Syrian family, which was attacked by racists in Kayseri, and stated commitment to migrants’ security.
