Türkiye’s relentless efforts to be self-sufficient in defense industry has also boosted its arms exports. Statistics show that Türkiye is the 12th largest arms exporter as per the change in export amounts from 2017 to 2021. Previously it was 36th in the world. Türkiye’s share rose from 0.7% to 0.9% in the same period.
Total amount of exports exceeded $3 billion in 2021. Turkish defense companies are expected to sell $4 billion worth arms in 2022.
With new advanced weapons to be ready-to-sell soon, the export amount is expected to rise sharply.
