Türkiye to deliver first Aksungur UCAV to Angola

Turkey will reportedly deliver Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicles to the African country of Angola.

According to regional sources, the delivery of Aksungur, an unmanned aerial vehicle designed and produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), to Angola will be carried out shortly. Africa Intelligence stated that the army personnel who will use the drones have started to be trained. The process, which is normally planned to be carried out earlier, is being delayed by several months due to Angola’s financial difficulties arising from its debt to China.

Ömer Yıldız, Deputy General Manager of UAV Systems at TAI, officially announced in March 2023 that the Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicle had been exported to Angola. Yıldız stated that deliveries had not yet started. Aksungur has a wingspan of 24 meters and a height of 11.6 meters. With more than 50 hours of flight time, a payload capacity of more than 750 kilograms and a maximum take-off weight of 3.3 tons, Aksungur can carry a large number of smart munitions.
