French president Emmanuel Macron’s colonialist approach to the developments in the Mediterranean might cause French companies lucrative Turkish market as Turks brace for wide-range boycott of French products starting from tomorrow.
Turkish Consumers Union said it will announce the first French brand to be boycotted and each week it will add one brand to the boycott list. Turkey is a major lucrative market for dozens of French global brands from automotive to food and beauty products. French oil company Total has a large share in the Turkish market while French cars like Citroen, Renault and Peugeot have appealed to the consumers in one of the fastest growing markets in the world. In total, more than 100 global French brands operate in Turkey.
