“US blocks money transferred for the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant”

As the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant continues, an important complaint came from the Russian side regarding money transfers.

Alexei Lihachev, the head of the state nuclear energy company Rosatom, told journalist Pavel Zarubin on Russian state TV that the US has blocked money transferred for the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, but despite this, the implementation of the project has not stopped.

Speaking on the Rossiya 1 TV channel’s “Moscow. Putin” program on Rossiya 1 TV channel, Lihachev said, “The system of mutual agreement is under attack. They are blocking the money. It is the Americans who are doing this, moving between our legal entities, between our banks,” he said.

“The dogs are barking, but the caravan continues on its way,” Lihachev said, noting that US sanctions prevented the implementation of the project, but construction has not stopped.
