US Senate blocked Hungary’s HIMARS missiles purchase. As a response, Hungarian government abandoned the order, a government official said. The deal was worth $735 million and consisting of 24 launchers and more than 100 missiles. U.S. Sen. James Risch of Idaho said he halted the potential deal with Hungary due to its government’s refusal to agree to Sweden’s accession to NATO.
Turkish analyst Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Karataş said Hungarian government could buy Turkish equivalents of HIMARS, namely TG-230 or TRG-300 missiles. Both types are combat proven missiles and were used by Ukrainian army recently. Their striking accuracy is claimed to be better than those of HIMARS.
